Here we have collected answers to the most common questions about ETIAS to give you clear and practical information.
1. How much does ETIAS cost?
The official fee is 20 euros. The amount in your local currency may vary depending on the exchange rate on the day of payment.
2. What should I do if my ETIAS application is rejected?
You will receive an email stating the reason for the rejection. You have the right to appeal. If the reason for rejection is a simple error in the application form (for example, a mistake in the passport number), you can simply correct it and submit a new application. Read more about this here.
3. Do I need an ETIAS to travel to Ireland or the UK?
No. ETIAS only applies to the 30 countries that are part of the Schengen area and some others. Ireland and the UK have their own visa and entry rules and are not part of the ETIAS system.
4. What is the validity period of an ETIAS?
An ETIAS authorization is valid for 3 years from the date of approval, or until your passport expires (whichever comes first). During this time, you can make an unlimited number of short-term trips.
5. Do I need to print out my ETIAS authorization?
No, not necessarily. The authorization is electronically linked to your biometric passport. Border guards will be able to check it automatically when they scan your passport. However, we recommend that you keep an electronic copy of the confirmation letter on your phone.
